Revised Subject Matter Sketches 11/21/13
Exterior (above) & Interior (below)
2 hours
What I Did:
-reworked my subject matter to unify & create more transitions from panel to panel
-unified the color: exterior is all dark & B&W, while the interior is colorful & light
-new transitions:
1. smoke behind the lion, extending through next panel to #4, where it will funnel into the head of a skull
2. eyes on panel 5 will open to reveal the word 'hide', which will have transparency paper on top of it
3. hair will fuse the head in panel 5 into the fur in panel 6
4. black tears added on woman's face in panel 5
(interior)
1. text merged onto panel 1
2. sources of light (diamonds and reflective paper) moved to panels 2 & 3 to immediately give a sense of 'light'
2. looked up more symbols of happiness and replaced the rainbow (too dynamic) with a fountain (rebirth) to be in a unifying color, use reflective paper to create it's streaks of water, surrounded by small black silohuettes of doves
3. the next panel will feature another new symbol-a dove- done in a simplistic Pisacco-like outline drawing- that will carry an envelope; flowers will back the envelope to make them appear to float on the final page; the envelope will contains pieces of magazine flowers
4. I moved the large bouquet to the last panel to create a simplistic, but bold statement at the ending

Constructing the Form
1 1/2 hours
What I Did:
-measured all of my subject matter to see how large I need to make the 'shell' of my piece
-made a stencil and produced 6 pieces, which were all overlapping and glued together
-white interior to be added before I begin laying down subject matter
-folds flat as an 'open' accordion form
