For Monday, I finished going through magazines and finding potential pieces of subject matter based on my brainstorming list. I cut out all the items I found and made another list of themes that I had collected from all of the clippings. I made sketches of the panels, both the exterior and interior, with the subject matter I had come up with. While the images on the outside convey an ambiguous feeling of a dark state, images on the inside express development and reaching a point of happiness. I've decided to use mostly collage of magazine clippings, because of the boldness of the images I've found. However, I'll also be drawing on 2 to 3 pages and using selective text also. Interactive elements will include the interior light, reflective paper, transparency paper, an envelope, and a 3D sculptural magazine element.
What is Not Working:
My concept of light/dark , ying/yang, or happiness/sadness is being conveyed, but I am wondering whether the subject matter is cohesive enough yet, with a clear and distinct message. I think that I have successfully created bold and transitional visual poetry with my images, but I also think that there may not be enough visual harmony yet because of the variety of images and subjects. I potentially need to narrow down what I'm trying to say. (upload problems-show sketches in class)
What's Next:
-create a new mockup of my construction
-figure out measurements of actual scale and begin making, taking into consideration working crit. on my new content
-update sketchbook
